Eurofresh Farms, America’s largest greenhouse grower, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to The Arizona Republic.

Eurofresh cited $300 million in debt, labor shortages, and crop diseases for the decision. Company Chief Executive Officer Dwight Ferguson said too much debt existed on the balance sheet, the Republic said.

The Dutch-founded company grows tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers hydroponically. Eurofresh has 318 acres of facilities with locations in Willcox and Snowflake, Ariz.

Eurofresh will operate as usual while in bankruptcy protection, Ferguson said.
