On a hot, windy West Texas day in October, Hanna Harms is carefully digging peanuts, repeatedly looking forward and then over her shoulder at the digger, striving for "a consistent row of inverted peanuts," she says as she drives the tractor.
"As I'm driving, I'm making sure the depth is consistent and making sure it's working smoothly," she adds.
Harms started driving a tractor and digging peanuts at 16 years old. She's recently received her spray license and is gradually learning to work on equipment. She aspires to take over the family farm one day.
Watch this video to hear more from Harms as she digs runners on Glen, Aaron, and Kirk Martin's farm near Wellman, Texas.
