Across the country, there's a scramble for masks, those N95 masks and other protective equipment for health care workers as the number of COVID-19 cases is expected to spike in the coming weeks and last night the federal government gave the OK for a potentially game changing technology to sterilize the protective masks being worn by those treating coronavirus victims. The technology comes from Battelle, a non-profit research corporation based in Columbus, Ohio. Battelle is 90 years old, has laboratories across the nation. The technology now OKed by Washington, will allow for up to 80,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to be sterilized in a batch.

The Army Corps of Engineers is moving in Chicago's sprawling McCormick Place Convention Center to build a temporary hospital. It should hold 3,000 when completed, but completion won't come for another three weeks or so yet.

Chicago wheat futures went up for a second session overnight as a proposal by Russia to put a cap on its wheat exports amid the rapidly spreading epidemic raised a few concerns about the global food supply. People around the globe are being forced to stay home and are preparing their own meals now, switching from food prepared outside the home. There's more of a demand for wheat and bread.

Weather forecasters were telling us Saturday morning some parts of the Heartland could get roughed up by tornadoes. Sure enough, Saturday night they hit in part of Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas.

Officials say they do not expect foul play as the cause of that early morning fire in the Indiana where six people died. They were all siblings, ranging in age from 10 to 25.

If you have to get out to get groceries or medicine, don’t forget to tell that person working there, waiting on you, that you appreciate them.
