Grain futures are lower this morning across the board after attempts to firm overnight eroded into slow but fairly steady selling. Storms bringing beneficial rains to Iowa are moving across the Mississippi River but could begin to peter out as they move east, keeping parts of the eastern Midwest dry. The precipitation in Iowa could help improve conditions there after the latest Vegetation Health Index maps showed deterioration last week. Lower prices are encouraging some export business, but the U.S. faces plenty of competition on world markets.
