Alfalfa industry leaders want U.S. farm policy to better reflect the value the forage crop has in the United States.
Alfalfa is the third most valuable field crop produced in the U.S., valued at over $9.3 billion, according to 2017 figures recently released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). This is $1.2 billion more than wheat.
