Ronnie Summers, a well known agriculture and agribusiness veteran in South Carolina,   has been named the new director of the  SC AgriBiz and Farm Expo effective immediately.

Summers continues to serve as chief executive officer of the Palmetto Agribusiness Council, a position he has held since Jan. 1, 2017, after retiring at the end of 2016 with over 35 years of service within the Farm Credit system. Summers also owns and operates Yella Dawg @ Work, LLC, a consulting/management firm. His career with Farm Credit included roles ranging from loan officer to South Carolina regional president, a role he held for 13 years.

“We’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to work with Summers as a more intrinsic part of our organization,” said partner Jody A. Martin. “Besides the positive direct working relationship we’ve had with Summers, his background in all aspects of the agribusiness industry makes him the perfect person to further grow and develop the SC AgriBiz and Farm Expo vision.”

As director, Summers will serve as the liaison with all Expo partners and lead the SC AgriBiz team. Jody Martin will serve as a partner going forward.

“SC AgriBiz and Farm Expo is an organization which includes a talented staff who fully embrace the agribusiness environment. It is a privilege to be asked to join this team and be a part of the continued success,” Summer said.

SC AgriBiz & Farm Expo’s mission is “to promote and expand the business of agriculture and agribusiness in South Carolina and beyond.” The 2020 expo will be held Jan. 15 to 16 at the Florence Center in Florence.
