Congressional Beef Caucus formed

Caucus will highlight importance of beef industry.

A Congressional Beef Caucus has been formed to highlight the importance of the beef industry as the largest segment of the American agriculture economy.

As of March 29, there were 35 bipartisan members of the Congressional Beef Caucus from 21 states. The caucus will be co-chaired by Reps. Kevin Yoder, R-Kansas, and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas. 

“These ranchers and this economy are critical to all of our districts and to the strength and security of our country,” Yoder said. “This caucus is about our heritage. But it’s also about our future."

“From trade to taxes, and from federal lands to the farm bill, there are many issues that affect our ability to help provide the world’s safest and most abundant food supply," said Craig Uden, NCBA president. "The Beef Caucus will help us highlight those issues on Capitol Hill so lawmakers know how those policies affect cattle producers back home in their districts.” 

Congressional caucuses are created for the purpose of organizing educational briefings for congressional staff and bringing awareness to policy issues in Congress.
