Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States, celebrates his 98th birthday on October 1.

A former peanut farmer, buying point operator, warehouseman and seed sheller, Jimmy Carter often proclaims "If you want to live a long and healthy life like me, eat more peanuts!"

In addition to his lifelong support of the peanut industry, Jimmy Carter continues to devote his life to supporting human rights and public health. He and Rosalynn Carter founded The Carter Center in 1982 to help advance peace and health worldwide. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his humanitarian efforts, he has had, by many accounts, the most extraordinary post-presidential career in American history.

We are grateful for President Carter's partnership and enduring support of the peanut industry over the years, and wish him a very Happy Birthday!

The Carter Center has created a way for the public to share their own memories online with the former president. To leave a birthday message for President Carter, CLICK HERE.
