Courtey of Kansas Wheat
GOOD RESISTANCE: Weather conditions during the growing and harvest season this year were conducive to a large crop of volunteer wheat which has producers and industry professionals concerned about a major outbreak of wheat streak mosaic virus damaging the 2021 crop. Producers are urged to kill volunteer wheat and grassy weeds near planned fields at least two weeks before planting the 2020 crop. In areas particularly prone to the virus, there is also an opportunity to plant resistant varieties. This year, KS Dallas, marketed by the Kansas Wheat Alliance is one of several new varieties with strong resistance the virus.
