In the life of a startup, there are a lot of steps from idea to market. The startup Clearflame Engine Technologies has been working on a system that allows a diesel engine to run on ethanol. The work involves a lot of time on the dynamometer testing loads and proving the system works. But what about on the road?

Farm Progress talked with B.J. Johnson, co-founder and CEO of Clearflame and his co-founder Julie Blumreiter who is the company's chief technology officer. The company just announced it has moved its engine from the dynamometer to the chassis of an 18-wheeler to take it on the road. It's the next step in the company's development process and brings this approach closer to commercialization.
