Companies that specialize in farm-based data products offer useful tools to farm better, shop for inputs better and market your crops better. But which product or service is right for you?

To help you select the right company or companies, we created The Ag Data Conference.

The inaugural conference, designed by the editors of industry-leading information brands Corn+Soybean Digest, Farm Futures and Farm Industry News, will be Nov. 29-30 at the Coralville Marriott Hotel & Convention Center near Iowa City, Iowa.

“The conference is one of those hands-on ways to come and share and learn what is working and what is not working,” says Kip Pendleton, president of Pendleton Group.

All-Star Lineup

Here’s a peek at our speaker lineup:

Kip Pendleton, president of the Pendleton Group, has been immersed in ag and innovation his entire career, with leadership roles spanning from seed genetics to first biotech commercialization to ag tech startup companies. His industry data perspective of “system of systems,” combined with a practical appreciation for farmer ROI, will challenge you to think through your strategies.

Dan Frieberg, president of Premier Crop Systems and Data Decisions columnist for Corn+Soybean Digest, will discuss how to turn specific field data into smart profitable decisions with “enhanced learning blocks.” He has helped agronomic advisers and farmers since 1999 to “think deeper” to identify and correct yield-limiting factors — all based around sound data.

Scott Kirk, vice president of Technology Crossover Ventures, will tell you why huge amounts of venture capital have flowed into ag technologies. He has a background in Silicon Valley’s technology investment community, working with internet, software and business services companies on strategic advisory assignments, financing and M&A transactions. He can give you a perspective on the value of technology for your business.

Craig Poling, chief technology officer for Sentek Systems, will share how UAVs will optimize farming through data and analytics. Poling has worked with drones, sensor/camera/software technology and data since early military-use days. His passion is to turn multi-spectral imagery of crops into valuable decision-making tools. He will present exclusive new data on nitrogen management and other specific values of how UAVs will optimize farming.

Raj Khosla, professor and assistant dean at Colorado State University’s Precision Ag Program, will explain the science of grid-sampling, and how to optimize management zones and data layers for success. He has more than 20 years experience in precision agriculture and data. He and his researchers collaborate with public and private entities. His expertise is broad — from special soil variability and management zones to plant and soil sensors, water management and big data solutions.

John Fulton, agricultural engineer at Ohio State University, will moderate panels on big data, data quality, and best sharing and storing practices. His Ohio family farm background is combined with his research on all things precision agriculture and big data. His expertise will help farmers cut through the big data confusion to make better agronomic decisions.
