Burro and Pacific Ag Rentals announced a partnership to provide the robotic platforms as part of PAR’s equipment rentals. The collaboration will increase access to the Burro robots across the United States.
Burro is the autonomous robotic platform that is revolutionizing field work with farm workers. It improves field efficiencies in a variety of crops and nursery settings.
The Burro platform features pop up autonomy, meaning the technology is plug-and play. It works immediately out of the box, allowing users to almost immediately begin working with the system with minimal training.
The robotic system uses cameras, high precision GPS, and artificial intelligence to move around a job site while carrying harvested produce or pulling trailers with plants around a nursery.
“Because our technology is designed to be plug-and-play, farmers everywhere can integrate Burros into their operations seamlessly with a high ROI,” said Charlie Andersen, CEO, Burro, in a prepared statement.
“Our goal is to increase access to this transformative technology anywhere needed in the ag industry. We are proud of our new partnership with PAR, which allows us to offer Burro rentals in addition to our existing purchasing options.”
Bartley Walker, chief executive officer of PAR, likewise praised the move.
“The decision to lease farm equipment instead of purchasing it makes a lot of sense for farmers who want the flexibility to quickly augment operations with new technology,” Walker said in a prepared statement. “Our goal is to provide farmers with flexible options that work for them, affordably and conveniently”
Pacific Ag Rentals is a farmer owned tractor rental company, headquartered in Salinas, California, with branches in Colusa, Fall River Mills, Stockton, Brawley, Bakersfield, Five Points, as well as Yuma, Arizona, and Pelham, Georgia.
Burro is a Philadelphia, Pa.-based company with a stated mission to “solve the labor problem facing farmers by making robots like ‘Wall-E’ a reality.”
