Wensman Seed has expanded its 2017 corn and soybean product lineup with traited and conventional corn and Roundy Ready 2 Xtend soybeans.

The majority of Wensman’s 2017 corn lineup is VT DoublePro, with 32 hybrids ranging from 76-day to 110-day; seven of those hybrids are new for 2017. Also included are 14 SmartStax, 5 VT Triple Pro, eight Roundup Ready and five conventional hybrids. Four of the conventional hybrids are new.

New soybeans from Wensman include varieties with Roundup Ready 2 Xtend genetics and traits. Yields in 2016 with Xtend have been “tremendous,” according to Dan Sartell, Wensman’s marketing manager. “Grower interest in Xtend originally started with the weed control potential offered by dicamba herbicide. The 2016 harvest data, with tremendous yields, is powering even more interest in Xtend.”

The Xtend product offering includes 16 varieties, starting with a 0.06 maturity on the early side and ending with a 2.8 maturity for longer-season areas.

Wensman’s Roundup Ready 2 soybean lineup includes 22 varieties starting at 0.04 and ending at 2.7 maturity.

Also new is Wensman Advantage Acre, a precision farming program that was launched in October.

With Advantage Acre, farmers and their Wensman seed adviser can analyze a field by soil type, topography, moisture-holding capacity and yield. These data are key elements in determining the best Wensman seed products for those acres.

“Farmers who have participated in our one-on-one demonstrations are amazed at this advanced precision farming program,” Sartell says.

A couple of advanced options are available with Advantage Acre. Advantage Plus incorporates a highly accurate 11-month weather forecast to enhance spring planting, in-season management practices and harvest. Advantage Acre VR generates a variable-rate planting script.
