Great Plains has introduced its Nutri-Pro Nutrient Application Systems in new models configured to 20 in. row spacing. Previously designed to apply nutrients in traditional row spacings only, the new models are engineered for farmers who plant narrow row crops or solid seed wheat, or those who want to fertilize at an angle to a previous row crop. The narrower row configuration allows fertilizer to better reach between the tighter rows.

Great Plains originally introduced its Nutri-Pro to the market in 2011 as a solution to common fertilizing challenges. Nutri-Pro allows the producer to pre-apply liquid fertilizer in the spring – just prior to planting – while simultaneously removing residue and tilling the planting zone, promoting fast, even emergence. Great Plains’ Nutri-Pro can also be converted to sidedress fertilizer application after the plants have emerged, ensuring nutrients reach the plant directly for maximum benefit and reduced waste.

The Great Plains Nutri-Pro models are available in 30- and 40-ft. working widths and are categorized in two model types: Nutri-Pro Precision and Nutri-Pro Anhydrous and Liquid. Both types incorporate a leading coulter followed by an anhydrous knife, a single 20 in. Vantage I liquid coulter, or a double row-cleaner, three-coulter system. Hydraulic weight transfer is standard on all units, allowing the weight to be transferred from the center frame to the wings. Nutri-Pro is available as a floating-tongue pull-type model, three-point-mounted unit, or semi-mounted unit with lift-assist wheels. All models fold to 17 ft., 4 in. or less.

A new feature developed by Great Plains engineers for its three-coulter Nutri-Pro Precision models is a Quik-Tach Coulter. The Quik-Tach Coulter helps farmers change from pre-apply to sidedress setup on their Nutri-Pro Precision models.

The new models feature the same choice of single or double Raven Super Coolers and can be set up for single-rate or variable-rate application. A choice of closing options or “sealers” is also available for sealing the trench when applying anhydrous. Double concaved discs, spring-loaded berm conditioners, or angled spider wheel conditioners are closing options, depending on the soil and residue conditions.
