The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) will sponsor rice grower meetings at four California locations on Jan. 26 and 27, 2017.
Towns and locations for the meetings include:
Richvale: Jan. 26, 8:30 a.m., Evangelical Church, 5219 Church St., Richvale;
Glenn: Jan. 26, 1:30 p.m., Glenn County Office of Education, 311 South Villa Ave., Willows;
Colusa: Jan. 27, 8:30 a.m., Colusa Casino Resort, 3770 Hwy. 45, Colusa; and
Yuba City: Jan. 27, 1:30 p.m., Veterans Hall, 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle, Yuba City.
Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and meetings start at 8:30 a.m. at Richvale and Colusa. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. and meetings start at 1:30 p.m. at Glenn and Yuba City.
The agenda for each meeting includes:
Call meeting to order - Rice Research Board nominations – Dana Dickey, Rice Research Board;
Rice pesticide and regulatory update – County Ag Commissioner;
Weedy rice in California – Whitney Brim-DeForest, UCCE;
New rice seed policy for RES varieties – Kent McKenzie, Rice Experiment Station
Arthropod management update – Luis Espino, UCCE
Fertility update – Bruce Linquist, UCCE
Weed management update – Kassim Al-Khatib, UCCE
Credits - 1.5 DPR credit in the “Other” category and 2 CCA CE.
