Beef producers to dish out seminars, hot beef sundaes

Seminars will cover a range of topics, including cattle care, county fairs and BQA.

LOTS TO SEE AND EAT: The New York Beef Producers Association will be serving up educational seminars and hot beef sundaes.

Aside from the many vendors that contribute to a successful New York Farm Show, the beef area in the Toyota Building is one area you won’t want to miss at the Feb. 21-23 show.

Take a break from all the wheeling and dealing to enjoy a delicious hot beef sundae served up daily by the New York Beef Producers and Junior Beef Producers. The sundaes will be available daily from 10:45 a.m. until sold out.

As for information sessions, Feb. 21-22 presentations will cover a range of topics, from animal identification to beef cattle promotion:

10:30 a.m. “Cattle Care Just Like Car Care — Yearly Maintenance”

11 a.m. “The New Animal Identification Defined”

11:30 a.m. “County Fairs: How to Promote and Educate About Beef and Your Industry”

12 p.m. “BQA: What Do These Letters Mean and Why Are They Getting a Lot of Attention”

12:30 p.m. “Cattle Weights: How, To and Why?”

1 p.m. “Bulls, Bulls, Bulls. The Missing Link, the Connection That Can Improve the Next Generation”

On Feb. 23, New York Junior Beef members will discuss the future of the beef industry. Take a few moments to hear, listen and ask a few questions of them. Other beef-related topics will start at 11:30 a.m.

Also, live beef animal display will connect visitors with the farmers who raise the animals. Many breeds will be on display. and different beef breed information will be available for you to take home.  Beef recipes and related information will also be available.

The New York Farm Show runs Feb. 21-23 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The show is co-presented by American Agriculturist and the Northeast Equipment Dealers Association.
