Max Armstrong has a new book out this summer, "More Stories from the Heartland" and he is sharing some of those stories.

One story surprised him greatly. He never expected to be the center of grain markets in Chicago, Ill.

He remembers how hundreds of traders use to crowd together in the pits in the Chicago markets. They stood elbow to elbow and face to face.

Then one day, there was a rally and he wanted to know what caused it. So Max went to the trading floor to find out what was going on.

He asked a trader what was causing the rally and was surprised to find out why.

Here the answer was a story he delivered!

There had been a rash of chicken deaths in Arkansas due to heat. Max Armstrong delivered the story on the radio that morning.
