Max Armstrong tells us that solar energy installations is making an impact on the power grid. In the first quarter, 50 percent increase in installations thanks to the federal government. That’s enough to power 1 million homes.

And those smart phone features that make it easier to connect to 911—they are causing a problem especially in rural areas. In North Dakota, there were 1600 hangups or misdials—last year for the same time period there were fewer than 500 calls. That’s a big impact on law enforcement. The advice is that if you do accidentally call 911—don’t just hang up. Instead tell the operator that you don’t need help. This will reduce the work load on law enforcement and their efforts to check on you.

And the USDA report releases the latest grain report tomorrow. It is likely that the USDA will raise the forecast for new crop and old crop amounts.

The report will include numbers for corn, soybeans and wheat.  The recent rains in the Great plains are likely to help with the wheat predictions as well.

Plus, Honor flights for military veterans are something to behold.

There was an honor flight that recently arrived from Appleton, Wisconsin and it gave some Vietnam War vets the welcome home they deserved. The group was coming back from touring memorials in Washington, D.C.
