Futures try to hold gains as crucial week unfolds

Crops improve last week but production still looks smaller (Video)

Grain futures are trying to hold last week’s tentative rebound as trading in a crucial week gets underway. USDA releases its first production estimates Thursday for corn and soybeans based on data from farmers and their fields. While the overall size of the crops looks smaller than last year’s records, both growers and Vegetation Health Index maps last week indicated some improvement. Crop Progress ratings out this afternoon could work higher as a result.
