A farm manager and rural appraiser from northwest Iowa, Dennis Reyman, will be installed as the 84th president of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers on Nov. 9 in a nationwide virtual conference. It will be livestreamed from Storm Lake, Iowa and Denver, Colorado.

Reyman is a partner at Stalcup Ag Service in Storm Lake, and has worked for the farm management, appraisal and real estate company for 27 years.

Raised on a crop and livestock century farm near Cushing, Iowa, Reyman continues to farm in Woodbury County. He earned degrees in Business and Economics from Morningside College and in Farm Management from Iowa Lakes Community College. He has appraised over 3,000 ag properties and is engaged in farm management and real estate services in Iowa and surrounding states.

Respected leader in his field

Reyman served as president of the Iowa Chapter of ASFMRA in 2009, was the Education Foundation president in 2010; and co-chaired ASFMRA’s Government Relations Committee, directing their annual Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C., from 2008 to 2019.

“I have great appreciation for Dennis and other Iowans who are involved in the field of farm management, rural appraisal and real estate sales,” says Bill Northey, USDA Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation and former Iowa Secretary of Agriculture. “They are a very important part of our ag economy and Dennis has huge respect within the industry. Congratulations on a wonderful contribution to agriculture and especially to your contribution over the next year as president of the ASFMRA.”

Northey will provide the keynote address on Friday, Nov. 13, for the annual ASFMRA convention, which has moved to a virtual format due to COVID-19.

Challenging times for agriculture

As immediate past president, Paul Moore of Lexington, Ky., will ceremonially hand over the gavel during the Nov. 9 nationwide Zoom conference. Moore says, “In spite of some unexpected challenges, this has been an exciting year for me. ASFMRA leadership and staff took a proactive stance to meet and often exceed expectations during this challenging time. I look forward to working with Dennis Reyman as the new president and am certain we will continue to see success, under his leadership.”

“ASFMRA is blessed to have a wonderful staff and great members,” says Moore, owner of Moore Appraisal Review & Consulting Services. “Without the leadership and hard work of the ASFMRA staff and the willingness of member volunteers, much of what has been accomplished would never have been possible.”
