The Northeast Mississippi Fruit and Vegetable Producers Association Educational Conference and Trade Show will be held on Friday, Feb. 11, at the Lee County, Miss., Agricenter’s Magnolia Building beginning with registration at 8 a.m.

Northeast Mississippi has an increasing number of small-scale fruit and vegetable producers who have expressed an interest in focused educational opportunities. The event will provide information about production practices. The conference is open to any grower or individual who may be interested in attending.

The conference will include expert speakers who will address specialized topics affecting fruit and vegetable growers, ranging from soil conditions, insect and pest management and weed control.

Afternoon sessions will split vegetable growers and fruit and nut growers into two separate sessions where each type of commodity will be addressed in more specific detail.

The conference is scheduled to conclude at 4:30 p.m.

Several vendors will be on site with products specifically for fruit and vegetable growers. Crop consultants, Extension personnel, and Master Gardeners can obtain continuing education hours by attending.

Registration information can be found on the “MSUCares.com” website under “Calendars” and then “ Calendar of Public Events.” Registration is $10 per person and should be mailed to the address on the brochure found on the website prior to attending the conference. Late registrations will be taken at the door.

Mississippi State University along with Make Mine Mississippi, MAFES, Mississippi Farm Bureau, and Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce are sponsoring the conference.
