Bill Gates, responsible for the computer system that we alternately praise and curse and considered by some to be one of, if not the, most important figures in recent history, extols the value of fertilizer.
“A few billion people would have to die if we hadn’t come up with fertilizer,” he told CBS’ Charlie Rose on “60 Minutes.”
He also thinks agriculture is a topic that gets far less attention than something as important as providing food deserves. He says the United States and other developed nations to take agricultural research more seriously.
