Demonstrations, seminars set for new Beef and Livestock Pavilion

Adding to World Ag Expo's seminars line-up for 2011, the Beef and Livestock Pavilion seminars and demonstrations bring a new level of agriculture education to an already packed expo.The Beef and Livestock demonstration area will be the premier location where exhibitors will showcase new technology for the beef and livestock industry.

Adding to World Ag Expo's seminars line-up for 2011, the Beef and Livestock Pavilion seminars and demonstrations bring a new level of agriculture education to an already packed expo. The Beef and Livestock demonstration area will be the premier location where exhibitors will showcase new technology for the beef and livestock industry. The pavilion was made possible through contributions from Evans Feed and Livestock, Jim's Supply, Moly Manufacturing, Colburn Cattle and TMA Cattle. The demonstration schedule includes:

Tuesday, Feb. 8

11:30 a.m. - John Openshaw a diagnostic sonographer technician, will perform a carcass evaluation on live cattle.

1 p.m. - Gustavo Cruz and Jim Oltjen from UC Davis will speak on "Ultrasound beyond the Squeeze Chute."

2:30 p.m. - Craig Huffiness from the American Hereford Association will discuss heterosis.

Wednesday, Feb. 9

10:30 a.m. - Kyle Locket, a seven-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier and Timed Event World Champion, will sign autographs and demonstrate the techniques of heading and heeling in Team Roping.

10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Professional Bull Rider Brendon Clark will be on hand to sign autographs and meet fans from at the Professional Bull Riders booth in the Beef and Livestock Pavilion.  Clark will compete at the Professional Bull Riders Table Mountain Casino Invitational March 18-19 at Save Mart Center. 

Noon - Jon Mollhagen, president, Moly Manufacturing, will demonstrate low-stress techniques for handling cattle and will teach how to read cattle.

2:30 p.m. - John Openshaw, a diagnostic sonographer technician, will perform a carcass evaluation on live cattle.

Thursday, Feb. 10

10 a.m. - Logan Ispan, a regional manager with American Angus, will discuss "The Angus Advantage" and how it has become a household name.

11:30 a.m. Gary Veserat, from E. I. Medical Imaging, will demonstrate "Practical Uses of Ultrasound to Increase Reproduction Efficiency."

2:30 p.m. Dr. Scott Vernon, of I Love Farmers ... They Feed My Soul, will discuss "Ag Advocacy: If not now, when? If not us, who?"

The 44th annual World Ag Expo 2011, Tools for Agri-Business, will run February 8-10 at the International Agri-Center show grounds in Tulare, Calif. An estimated annual average of 100,000 attendees from 72 countries are expected to attend World Ag Expo this year. The expo is the largest annual agricultural show of its kind with 1,500 exhibitors displaying cutting-edge agricultural technology and equipment on 2.6 million square feet of show grounds.
