Cochran: Prepare now to lessen storm losses

Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran is encouraging Mississippians to prepare for the potential effects of Tropical Storm Isaac, which is projected to become a hurricane targeting the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran is encouraging Mississippians to prepare for the potential effects of Tropical Storm Isaac, which is projected to become a hurricane targeting the northern Gulf of Mexico.

In closely monitoring the situation, Cochran has been working with state and federal officials to ensure that work in advance of the storm is proceeding efficiently. The entire Mississippi Gulf Coast is included in a designated Hurricane Warning area.

“Taking steps now to protect people and property should help lessen the losses that might be associated with Isaac. It is important that everyone stay informed and follow emergency orders. I am confident that Mississippians have learned valuable lessons from previous storms and will work together to prepare for this newest threat,” said Cochran. “I believe Governor Bryant and others are handling emergency preparedness actions very well.”
