The University of California Cooperative Extension, the San Diego County Farm and Home Advisor’s Office in Collaboration with the University of California Small Farm Program and Mira Costa College invite to our Blackberry Production and Water Quality Education Seminar on Wednesday - June 29, 2011.

Tentative agenda

8 a.m.: Registration, Coffee and Pastries

8:30: Blackberry Production and Management - Mark Bolda, UCCE Farm Advisor in Santa Cruz County, will discuss all aspects of Blackberry Production in California including variety selection (yield, outstanding aspects of 10 varieties), trellising, fertility and pest management (including special pests such as light brown apple moth and spotted wing drosophila)

11: Blackberry Variety Tasting and Roundtable Discussion

Noon: LUNCH (Included with registration)

1 p.m.: Ag Waiver Credits: What is required for a grower in San Diego County?

Valerie Mellano, UCCE Environmental Issues Advisor in San Diego County, will discuss the Ag Waiver Credits, water quality and runoff issues. Attendees will receive a certificate fulfilling the annual 2-hour Continuing Education Ag Waiver requirement.

REGISTRATION: Registration fee is $20.00 if received online or post marked by Friday June – 24, 2011 and includes lunch and handout materials. Late registration is $25 and is not guaranteed lunch. To register, please follow instructions on the registration form below.
