Hendrix Genetics is planning a $25 million commercial turkey hatchery and egg production facility in Beresford, S.D.

According to state officials, the company will directly distribute quality hybrid commercial poults to growers. The project includes new hatcheries, egg production facilities and a modern transportation fleet, and the hiring of a skilled workforce needed to support these areas of operations.

“This new hatchery allows us to continue to deliver on our core focus of providing top-quality genetics that match the needs of the market and our customers. This is a critical component of our plan to modernize the commercial turkey distribution infrastructure in the U.S.,” says Dave Libertini, managing director.

The proposed turkey hatchery in Beresford will have the capacity for 35 million hatching eggs. The new hatchery, plus the capacity within the aligned partners, offers the capability of hatching 60 million eggs for the commercial market, officials say.

Hendrix Genetics is a global company based in the Netherlands. It engages in layer, hybrid turkey, pig, aquaculture and traditional poultry breeding activities. The company was founded in 1991 and is based in Boxmeer, the Netherlands. It has breeding centers in the Netherlands, France and Canada.
