One of the West's marquee livestock events will celebrate its 100th anniversary this summer.

The Idaho Wool Growers Ram Sale, to be held July 9-10 at the Gooding County Fairgrounds, will commemorate more than a century of sheep production in the state, the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation reports.

“Producers from across Idaho, and other western states, will come together to sell and purchase some of the best breeding stock Idaho has to offer,” Liz Wilder, executive director of the Idaho Wool Growers Association, told the Farm Bureau.

The sale was traditionally held in Twin Falls but moved to Gooding, which is the nucleus of the Gem State's sheep industry, according to the organization.

The sale will be one of the Pacific Northwest's first in-person agricultural events since COVID-19 prompted widespread restrictions on public gatherings in 2020. The shutdowns caused the U.S. sheep industry to lose half its sales overnight, according to the American Lamb Board.
