Have you wondered if you were keeping the right heifers for your future mama cows? Is your heifer going to be able to carry a calf full term or will she be too small to deliver the calves from my bull? What color should I go with --I want black, but is that the same as black with a red tint?

Themeeting will answer all of your questions and will benefit young and old producers alike.

The Adult Heifer Show that consists of a pen of three heifers will kick things off by accepting heifers from 1p.m. to 4:30 pm. If you have three heifers and are curious how your animals stack up next to others in the county, you can place them in the show which is for two age categories: 3 months to 1 year, and 13 months to 2 years. The cost is $20 per pen. Heifers will need to be in place at 4:30 pm.

In addition, local youth from 4-H and FFA livestock judging teams will be competing by evaluating and placing the heifer pens. Registration forms are available at the Faulkner County Extension Service located at 110 South Amity, in Conway.

The judge will conduct a small workshop and talk reasons for placing of heifers. There will then be a sponsored meal provided by the Faulkner County Cattlemens Association and judging awards will be presented.

Don Hubbell, resident Director of the Livestock Experiment Station in Batesville, Ark., will explain the reproductive characteristics usedin the selection of replacement heifers.
