Corn producers have gained some flexibility in their preplant herbicide program. Valor Herbicide, from Valent U.S.A. Corporation, is now labeled for use 14 days prior to planting in no-till or minimum-till corn.

“Valor's residual control gives corn producers six to eight weeks of solid control of tough broadleaf weeds and competitive grass control,” says Jamie Nielson, Valor brand manager. “And Valor is very effective on tough broadleaf weeds, including common ragweed, lambsquarters, mare's tail, Palmer pigweed and waterhemp.”

Valor already carries registration for use in soybeans and cotton, so producers can make last-minute cropping changes, while using the same preplant herbicide at a 2-oz./acre standard label rate.
