The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), Sonoma County, is conducting one-hour meetings the week of May 3 on the European grapevine moth (EGVM) at several locations in the county.

The county and state have placed nearly 3,500 pheromone traps for EGVM in Sonoma County. The number of traps with confirmed moths is increasing along with the size and number of quarantine areas.

Currently, over 10,000 vineyard acres in Sonoma County are in quarantine. Growers should learn how to effectively control the pest. Spray timing is critical now and later this summer. Sanitation is just as critical to prevent the spread of this pest.

The meetings have no cost, no frills, no food, and no chairs (bring your own if you wish).

Monday, May 3

Location: Price Family Vineyards/Durell Vineyards, Sonoma. Go to the top of Fowler Creek Road and then straight through the black iron gate. Fowler is off of Arnold Drive almost across the street from Shamrock Materials, about one-third south of Petaluma Avenue.

Times: 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 4

Location: Atwood Ranch, Glen Ellen. 12099 Highway 12, three-rail white wood fence at driveway. About 1 mile north of intersection of Arnold Drive and Highway 12.

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Thursday, May 6

Location: Clendenen Vineyard Management headquarters, 18850 Hassett Lane, Geyserville. Lytton Springs exit from 101. Turn east and cross railroad tracks. Left on Lytton Station Road, then left on Hassett. Continue to end of road.

Times: 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
