Raising alfalfa in Wyoming can be a profitable business, with the right management. And that’s the focus of the upcoming Wyoming Forage Field Day in Powell, Wyo. The event takes place on May 30 and includes a full-day of information sessions and in-field information.

Registration for the event starts at 8 a.m. at the Park County Fairgrounds, 655 E. 5th St., Powell. The first information sessions start at 8:45 a.m. with a look at optimizing forage production and quality. Attendees will also get an update on alfalfa research in the state, learn more about highly digestible alfalfas, learn about alfalfa irrigation management and get a chance to talk with vendors.

After lunch, which includes time at the vendor show, attendees will travel to the Powell Research and Extension Center for some in-field work, including highlights of work at the center, managing weeds in hay, looking at fertility requirements for silage and field corn, and getting more information on scouting.
