Tires vs. Tracks

Michigan grower Chaffin Farms had a history of running tracks -- first, with a John Deere 9000T and later a Case Quadtrac. But the cost, constant maintenance, and inability to road the machine without problems prompted them to move to Goodyear LSW800/55R46 duals and LSW900/50R46 duals on their 9000-series John Deere 4WDs. They haven't looked back since. As new machines come on farm for tillage, planting, and everything they need on farm, they continue to switch them over to Goodyear Low Sidewall Technology® (LSW®) tires. When they tried a John Deere tracked machine it moved like a bulky machine and didn't give them the flexibility they were needing. When they tried a Case tracked machine, they had nothing but issues once the miles started setting in alongside increasing maintenance costs on track component parts. Instead, they moved to wheeled machines, outfitted them with Goodyear LSWs, made by Titan, and immediately felt the effect of the Low Sidewall Technology and were very pleased with the simplicity they brought to their operation.
