A trip to Agritechnica is an eye-opener as visitors stroll through building after building to look at farm machinery from around the world. After a pandemic-caused gap, the show has returned to its original lineup of new products and systems. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, show organizers offered an area for startups and other creators to highlight their smart farming wares.

A sampling of the many startups on hand offer a look at what’s happening in Europe as farmers cope with rising calls for increasing sustainability. From better path planning tools to innovative ways to reduce herbicide use, these innovators are tackling the new challenges of agriculture.

Unless indicated, the products highlighted here have limited availability outside of Europe. That means some websites may not be in English, but Google can auto-translate those sites. Many items here are prototypes or startups in the early stages.

A common theme runs through these startups: to pull together information and make it useful for the farmer. From using imagery in new ways to improving how you work with equipment in the field, these startups are taking on the “big data” challenge.

In this roundup of new ideas, you’ll even find some that don’t involve digital screens, yet offer interesting innovations for equipment use.
