When Chad Render is not busy farming more than 6,000 acres of grain crops near Pine Bluff, Ark., he and wife, Dawn, are helping their teenage daughters pursue a career in country music.
Mary-Keaton, 17, and Stella, 15, are an up-and-coming pop country duo known as the Render Sisters. With exquisite harmonies and a maturity beyond their years, these young singer-songwriters are starting to make waves in Nashville — even catching the attention of Pam Tillis (yes, that Pam Tillis). The country legend has taken a personal interest in the duo, advising them in the business and even directing their music videos.
Mary-Keaton and Stella have been singing together for years, encouraged by their grandmother, Linda Render, a music teacher who recognized their natural talents early on. Over the years, the duo honed their skills performing in venues around southern Arkansas before landing a spot on Little Rock’s Jettway Performance Summer Tour in 2018. This tour brought them to bigger venues in bigger cities where they eventually connected with Tillis as well as executives with PCG Artist Development in Nashville.
They released their first single, “Lost Boy,” in June 2020, followed by “Count on Me, Count on You.” Both songs were co-written by Mary-Keaton and Stella, along with producer Britton Cameron. The tracks were accompanied by music videos shot on the Render farm.
“It’s been so interesting to see the other side of the music industry. We’ve learned so much, ” said Chad, who has a cameo in the “Count on Me, Count on You” video.
“It’s a busy life running a farm and traveling frequently to Nashville, but it’s so rewarding to see my girls using their God-given talents to pursue their dream.”
To date, the Render Sisters have released three original songs as well as a hauntingly beautiful cover of “Love Hurts.” Find their music, and learn more about the duo on their website, RenderSisters.com.
