Four S.D. Dairies To Hold Open Houses

Old Tree, Gee-Aye, Royalwood and MoDak dairies are offering tours and free food.

Four South Dakota dairies are holding open houses each Saturday in June.

Old Tree Dairy
The Frido and Sonja Verpaalen family, Agriculture United for South Dakota, the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Relations Committee, Midwest Dairy Association and South Dakota Soybean will be hosting Lunch on the Dairy Farm at Old Tree Farm near Volga on Saturday, June 1 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The 1,650 cow dairy farm is located from Highway 14 in Volga go 3 miles south on 464th Ave/Samara Ave, then 3/4 miles West on 214th street.

Gee Aye Dairy
Gary and Amy Blase invite you to their Gee Aye Dairy near Ethan on June 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy a free lunch and tour the 200 cow farm. The Blase family recently installed 4 robotic milkers. See how these milkers work and learn more about how the family is using this technology on their farm to improve cow comfort.

Directions from Ethan Corner on HWY 37: Follow 265th street 2 miles, then go south on 408th avenue 1 mile, take the first right onto 266th street.

Royalwood Dairy
Royalwood Dairy -- The Ode Family invites you and your family to their Royalwood Dairy on June 15. Free lunch and ice cream will start being served at 10:30 a.m. Children's entertainer Phil Baker will perform at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. There will be tours of the dairy and baby calves to pet. Hood magazine with host its monthly Make N Take crafts at the farm and Usborne Books and More will have farm books for buy at the dairy.

From Brandon: go five miles south on SD Hwy 11 and 1/2 mile east on 266th Street. From Sioux Falls, follow 10th Street east out of Sioux Falls on Hwy 11. Continue north on Hwy 11 1/4 mile and then head east 1/2 mile on 266th Street.

Modak Dairy
The Moes family invites you to tour MoDak Dairy near Goodwin on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Enjoy a free lunch, ice-cream and tours of the 5th generation dairy farm.

From Goodwin, MoDak Dairy is located 1 mile north on Kranzburg Avenue and 1/2 mile east on 171st Street.
