Nine organizations penned a letter declaring why AM radio is so important last week.
AM Radio may disappear due to the use of electric vehicles. The electro-magnetic field in vehicles will disrupt the radios in vehicles and it has made many manufacturers stop using the AM radios in them.
Audi, Volvo, BMV Porche, FORD, Tesla and Volkswagon have either stopped using them or have told dealers the AM radios are no longer available.
AM Radios are a place for entertainment and news and most provide agricultural news. There are 4,470 licensed AM Radio stations in the USA and 1,500 provide ag coverage.
If you are looking at a new vehicle and listen to the radio, say something on the test drive. Don't let your voice go quiet.
Some legislators have introduced a bi-partisan bill, AM Radio for every Vehicle, that would require the NATSB to include an AM/FM radio in every vehicle.
Some are suggesting that every dealer will have to make it clear there is no AM radio in a vehicle before it can be sold.
