Mike Pearson examines the ruling out of the U.S. District Court in Arizona Feb. 6 that revoked the registration of Dicamba for use on cotton and soybeans.

The ruling removed the registration from three popular herbicides:

The three herbicides were part of a new class of herbicides that made the Dicamba less prone to drift.

Farmers are unable to apply any of those chemistries which is a problem because many farmers have already decided and purchased their chemicals and seeds for the 2024 planting season, which is frustrating the farmers.

The court ruled the EPA did not adhere to the law in two instances when it comes to Dicamba.

The first is that the EPA is in violation of the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act.

The second is that the EPA used a circular approach to accessing danger when it comes to dicamba and continuing the use of them without proper hearings.

Due to the severity of the EPA's actions, the court ruled the immediate halt of the use of Dicamba.

Syngenta, Bayer, and BASF are working with their legal team and costumers to decide on what's next in 2024.
