Mike Pearson tells listeners the latest on labeling for plant based beverages also known as oat, almond or soy milk.

Dairy producers argue that oat, almond or soybean milk doesn't have the same nutrient values and the FDA agrees-- or at least of kind of agrees.

In February 2023, the FDA issued a draft and asked Americans three questions about plant based milk beverages.

When the draft was issued, the FDA decided the word "milk" could be on the labels because Americans are used to reading the word on the labels.

Now, the FDA is collecting comments from diary and planted based beverage producers for their comments and a final rule will be created.
