EASY COVER CROP SEEDING
Unverferth Manufacturing recently announced that its Rolling Harrow soil conditioner has a new cover crop seeding option. The seeder does high-speed seed applications, tillage and incorporation in one pass. A roller-style chevron meter design creates continuous seed flow. Tapered seed deflectors ensure greater accuracy. The seeder option starts at $11,900. Find a dealer at unverferth.com.
The T380 Prowler chassis by GVM can now have an air boom spreader as opposed to a spinner spreader. AIR SEEDER CLOSING SETUP
Needham Ag has developed a new closing system for Case IH 500/500T and New Holland 2080/2085 air seeders. This new system is designed to achieve seed slot closure, even in higher-moisture soils and where high residue levels exist. The key is the Needham Angle Changer that mounds around the factory closing wheel arm tube and increases the gathering action of the closing system. The angle changer is a special connection that angles the crumbler closing wheel at the back. The angle changer is $65 per row and works with either the 2-by-13-inch wheel or the Poly 20 Crumbler Wheel (shown). Learn more at needhamag.com.
Thurston Manufacturing, makers of the Blu-Jet line of applicator products, has introduced a Liquid Applicator Narrow Transport Kit. The system is designed to reduce over-the-road width by 40 inches. The standard AT4015, 17-row, 30-inch machine has a transport width of 16 feet, 8 inches. With the optional narrow transport width kit, the machine narrows to 13 feet, 4 inches. Suggested list price for the four-pair folding coulters shown is $3,937. There are also kits for smaller working widths of the applicator line available. For more information, visit blu-jet.com.
This vegetable planter from Checchi & Magli is hemp-ready. The machine is designed to plant hemp seedlings, which is part of the process used for hemp plants to be harvested for hemp seed oil. The unit is available in a range of widths, from a single-row machine to a 25-foot machine with five rows on 60-inch spacings. The machine is designed to punch through plastic to push in seedlings to a prepared bed. Cost for a single-row machine starts at $13,900. Learn more at besttransplanter.com.
AIR SEEDER CONTROL
The Intellidrive system will provide individual row control for an air seeder. The Iowa company, a first-time exhibitor at the National Farm Machinery Show, says the system uses 10 to 12 electric motors (depending on air-seeder size) and can work from tractor power through the ISO plug without the need for an extra generator. The system can be calibrated for seed size or pounds, and the software will store up to 10 calibrations. The system is compatible with a range of monitors, including the John Deere 2630 and 4640, the Case IH Pro 700 and the New Holland InCommand 1200. The cost ranges from $10,500 to $12,500, depending on the size of the seeder. Learn more at intellidriveusa.com.
