Cotton variety selection, peanut fumigation, nematode research, irrigation management and the opportunity to learn about sesame, a new crop for North Carolina, will highlight the 2023 Northeast Ag Expo Summer Field Day set for Thursday, July 27 in Gates County.
The field day begins with registration, a trade show and a breakfast of county link sausage wraps. Opening remarks follow at 9:15, with field tours beginning at 9:30 and lasting until noon. The day concludes with a catered lunch.
The field day is hosted by Gates County Cooperative Extension and Indian Neck Farms. It day will be held at Indian Neck Farms, located at 72 Indian Neck Road, 72 Indian Neck Road, Hobbsville, N.C. North Carolina State University Extension specialists will present on cotton, peanuts, irrigation, and sesame, a new crop for North Carolina.
Attendees can obtain 2 hours of “X” pesticide credits for North Carolina private (farmer) pesticide applicators and 2 hours of credits for North Carolina commercial pesticide applicators for the categories of Demonstration & Research (N), Ag Pest – Plant (O) and Dealer (D). Also, 2 hours of credits for certified crop advisor will be provided.
The Northeast Ag Expo is a six-county North Carolina Cooperative Extension group in northeastern North Carolina. This 6-county team includes Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans Counties.
