Cotton Incorporated and the Plant Management Network have developed a one-stop search engine that targets the Extension sites of America’s 17 cotton-producing states.

University extension sites are an excellent source of crop management information, but they cover a diverse range of programs that extend well beyond row crop agriculture.

To help make cotton Extension information more easily available for growers and consultants, the Cotton Extension Search accesses cotton-specific information from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

“To complement the Focus on Cotton webcast series, we wanted to offer a search tool that made it easier to find cotton specific information on university extension sites. This new Google-powered resource, called the Cotton Extension Search gives users the flexibility of searching for cotton production information at three geographic levels: by state, region, or across the entire Cotton Belt,” says Ryan Kurtz, Director of Agricultural and Environmental Research and staff entomologist at Cotton Incorporated.

The search was also developed to pull cotton-specific information, no matter how general the user’s keyword search term. A search for “weeds”, for example, will yield weed management information specific to cotton.
