The Missouri Pork Association will once again be actively involved at the 2009 Missouri State Fair, Aug. 13-23. Fairgoers will have many opportunities to learn about the pork industry while enjoying the food, fun and fellowship in Sedalia.

For great food, visit the Pork Place. Formerly called the Pork Chop Tent, it has been a state fair tradition for 30 years. Besides a new name, the Pork Place has undergone renovation and now has air conditioning. Menu items include the famous top chop dinner, pork burgers, barbeque pork, smoked barbeque ribs and a classic BLT sandwich. Guests can read over interesting facts about pork while enjoying a fulfilling meal. Watch for money-saving coupons in the Missouri State Fair Souvenir Program available at entrance gates and at fair information booths.

The MPA will be in the Swine Pavilion sponsoring the Youth Swine Skillathon on Thursday, Aug. 13 and the 4-H/FFA Swine Judging Contest on Friday, Aug. 14. MPA will be involved with Youth in Agriculture Day on Saturday, Aug. 22. It also sponsors the 4-H Specialty Pork Demonstrations on Sunday, Aug. 16, beginning at 1 pm. Stop by these events and show your support for Missouri's youth.

For pork recipes and trivia, you can visit the MPA booth located in the Agriculture Building.
