There are many ways to enjoy the natural beauty of Indiana. Checking out the countryside at 12 to 14 miles per hour from the seat of a tractor is one of the better choices. It’s even better if the tractor is considered vintage.
Pre-COVID-19, tractor drives were part of my June routine. Many are still held, but some I participated in fell victim to the pandemic. Nothing beats the clear view of the outdoors on a summer morning filled with sunshine like what you see from a tractor seat.
I was piloting a John Deere when I snapped the photo pictured here. Identify where I was, and we will enter you in a drawing for a gift card. You have three ways to get it right: Identify the county, town or river we’re crossing. Get any one right and you’re entered!
Email your entry to [email protected] or mail to 599 N., 100 W., Franklin, IN 46131. Include your mailing address.
Wandering Indiana
Some of you recognized the farm sign that was featured in Spotted … in Indiana in the June issue and online. It’s located at the entrance to Hilltop Swine Farm along Highway 24 just east of Wolcott in White County.
Troy and Lisa Furrer operate Hilltop Swine Farm. They farm with their son, Josh, and Troy’s dad, Don. The sign itself promotes the solar installation that they erected to supply electricity for the farm operation and swine buildings.
If their name sounds familiar, you may have read a story about their modern farm shop in the June issue. The shop was also featured in stories in the May digital issue of Indiana Prairie Farmer, still available online.
Congratulations to the gift card winner, Laura Maynard, Lafayette, Ind.
