CGB purchases Illinois grain-fertilizer firm

CGB Enterprises, Inc., just purchased the grain and fertilizer assets of Twomey Company, headquartered in Smithshire, IL.

CGB Enterprises, Inc., just purchased the grain and fertilizer assets of Twomey Company, headquartered in Smithshire, IL. Eight locations including a barge loading terminal near Gladstone, IL, are part of the purchase, which includes a total storage capacity of 51 million bushels and 18,000 tons of liquid fertilizer capacity. The purchase means CGB gains additional loading capacity on the Mississippi River.

Twomey is a third generation grain and fertilizer company and will provide CGB with a customer base in northwestern Illinois.

CGB’s headquarters are located in Mandeville, LA. The company operates more than 70 grain facilities, a soybean processing plant, logistics, stevedoring and marine services, wholesale fertilizer marketing, financial services, crop insurance and farmer marketing services.
