As wheat combines start moving across the West, the next decision is what to plant for next season. On the heels of those combines rolling through, farmers have decisions to make. In Colorado, they can turn to the state's wheat variety performance trial. For 2017, the new information will be presented in a series of meetings Aug. 14 and Aug. 18.

The meetings are a chance for producers to discuss results of the 2017 harvest, and learn how producers can use decision-making tools to make variety planting decisions for the next season. Jerry Johnson, Colorado State University Extension specialist and crops testing leader, will be on hand at the meetings to present 2017's "Making Better Decisions: Annual Wheat Variety Performance Trial." While you can download the 60-page report, attending one of the August meetings with Johnson offers you the chance to get answers specifically for your operation.

In addition to Johnson, Rick Novak will be on hand to discuss wheat seed issues with producers.

Here's the schedule for the Aug. 14 meetings:

8 a.m., Akron, Colo., Events Center South Room
11:30 a.m., Limon, Colo., Senior Center
3 p.m., Burlington, Colo., Community Center Conference Room
7:30 p.m., Lamar, Colo., County Annex Mezzanine
