Parnell is now selling the first-ever FDA approved reproductive hormone for estrous synchronization in lactating cattle.

Parnell's new Synchronization Pack uses timed injections of its own, branded  gonadotropin-releasing hormone – GONAbreed – and its prostaglandin – estroPLAN.

These are essentially the hormonal products that have been the foundation of timed AI protocols for several years now. However, none other of these hormones are actually approved for estrous synchronization and therefore they are administered as extra-label usage, says Robert Joseph, Parnell CEO.

Other gonadotropin-releasing hormones are only labeled for the treatment of ovarian follicular cysts in dairy cattle.

Extralabel use is allowed under veterinary supervision by the Animal Medicinal Drug Use Clarification Act of 1994. However, that administration of medical compounds in unapproved, unlabeled uses carries more risks, Joseph adds.

Parnell's new Synchronization Pack overcomes that issue and also sets a regimented, defined protocol. That improves efficacy, Joseph says, as does the help of the prescribing veterinarian.

The products are extensively tested in Australia and the U.S. on beef and dairy cattle, with more than 30 million doses of both products administered. Parnell has been a market leader in dairy reproduction products.

The protocol works this way:

-Administer the first GONAbreed injection at "time zero."

-Administer the 2ml estroPLAN intramuscular injection six to eight days after the first GONAbreed injection.

-Administer the second GONAbreed injection 30 to 72 hourse after the estroPLAN injection.

-Perform fixed-time AI at 0-24 hours after the second GONAbreed injection or inseminate heat-detected cows using your standard practices.

Joseph says the Synchronization Pack has a companion training and tracking product called mySynch, which includes Spanish language modules.

If features dashboard-style reports and improvement plans to provide actionable resources for optimizing reproduction.

Parnell was founded in Australia more than 50 years ago and has launched more than 60 animal health products.
