Growers may now use a higher rate of Ignite herbicide for control of weeds in LibertyLink soybeans. Bayer CropScience just received approval for an application rate of 65 oz./acre in a season for Ignite. In addition, growers may apply up to 36 oz. of Ignite in a single application if recommended timing is delayed.

“Many factors can delay timely postemergence applications,” reported Andy Hurst, Bayer CropScience product manager, in a press release. “Soybean growers now have the option to use a higher rate of Ignite as needed.” This additional rate offers growers more flexibility in managing a weed control program.

Ignite herbicide is also labeled for use on all LibertyLink crops, including corn, soybeans, cotton and canola. It is also used as a burndown prior to crop emergence on non-LibertyLink crops. “Nonselective Ignite herbicide knocks out broadleaf and grass weeds, as well as weeds resistant to glyphosate and other herbicide classes,” Hurst added.
