Show of support: Klamath convoy sends dramatic message

At one point, the line of farm equipment and big rigs adorned with signs and flags stretched for nearly 20 miles.

With the theme "Shut Down and Fed Up," growers and their allies in the Klamath Basin in Southern Oregon and Northern California held a convoy of farm equipment, big rigs and other vehicles Friday that at one point stretched for up to 20 miles, according to attendees.

At the end of the route, on a farm field in Midland, Ore., speakers addressed a crowd estimated at over 2,000 people from a semi-trailer stage near hundreds of symbolic white crosses planted in the ground to symbolize those whose livelihoods are threatened by the water shortages..

The rally was in protest to U.S. Bureau of Reclamation water cutbacks that could leave some 200,000 acres of farmland in the basin without water by midsummer.

Here are some of the sights from the convoy.
