North Carolina Sweet Potato Field Day Oct. 14

Participants in the North Carolina Sweet Potato Field Day will hear about such topics as development of new varieties and the latest in weed control and insect management issues. And they will even have the chance to sample sweet potato beer and chips.

The latest North Carolina research related to sweet potatoes will be the focus of an Oct. 14 field day at the Cunningham Research and Education Center in Kinston.

Participants will hear about such topics as development of new varieties and the latest in weed control and insect management issues. And they will even have the chance to sample sweet potato beer and chips.

The event is sponsored by North Carolina State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission and the Golden LEAF Foundation.

North Carolina leads the nation in the production of sweet potatoes, and North Carolina State University is considered a national leader when it comes to research and extension education related to the crop.

The field day begins with registration at 1:30 p.m., with presentations starting at 2. The event ends at 7:30 p.m.
