There are many devastating insect pests facing agriculture today - each wanting to feed on crops and eat away at grower yields and profitability.

Chemical companies have a variety of insecticides on the market targeting these pests and it can be a challenge for growers and crop consultants to choose the right product.

This fall, Western Farm Press caught up with entomologist John Palumbo of the University of Arizona, based at the Yuma Agricultural Center at Yuma, to discuss new reduced-risk insecticides on the market for use in winter produce and how several products performed in his field trials.

You can read about Palumbo's findings in the Western Farm Press article located online at http://westernfarmpress.com/vegetables/latest-insecticides-improve-efficacy-against-produce-pests.

Meanwhile, enjoy these photos with Palumbo and a few factoids about the ever changing and improving farm chemical industry.
